  2. Frank Says:

    All of the colors mentioned above are not universal standards, and there are variations casino to casino, but black green, white, and red are almost always the same (but blue is uncommon as a $10 chip in casinos).

    black = $100
    green = $25
    red = $5
    white = $1

    The standard colors when dealing with retail sets for home use is typically:

    $1 – White
    $5 – Red
    $25 – Green
    $100 – Black

    This follows the colors for most casinos, but there are variations.

    For instance, $1 chips are often blue in Las Vegas. Therefore, it is common for custom poker chips to use blue as $1 chips. You can view examples of these custom poker chips here – (http://www.brpropoker.com/chip-gallery.html ).

    Adding to what Asdasd provided, here is a full list, with variations:

    $0.25 – Most often blue, (http://www.precisioncollectibles.com/t/LasVagas%20chips/tn_SlotsAFun25CentChip.jpg ), or red
    $0.50 – White, Red, Blue
    $1 – White, but commonly blue, especially in Las Vegas
    $2 – Yellow
    $2.50 – Pink, which is very popular in East Coast poker games
    $5 – Red
    $10 – Blue
    $20 – Grey or Yellow
    $25 – Green
    $50 – Orange
    $100 – Black
    $250 – Pink
    $500 – Purple
    $1000 – Burgundy, but commonly Orange
    $2000 – Light Blue
    $5000 – Brown or Grey

    The higher denominations, starting at $1000, can vary a lot depending on casino and/or state. They also have elaborate stripes so there may not even be a “base” color of the chips.
